Visiting the castle
Come and discover its history
Built in 1555 for the king Henri II's breadmaster, you will discover its tumultuous history and unique architecture. From Jean Girard, its first owner, to Georges Clemenceau who lived there the last years of his life, this jewel of the Renaissance in Lower Poitou evokes the succession of its residents and their history.
Today, the main building and pavilion, fully furnished, open their doors from the cellars to the frameworks. Self or free visit inside (optional): court of honor,small billiard room, large living room and library, King's bedchamber, dining room, frameworks of the sixteenth century ... The mysterious cellars conclude the visit.
All outdoor courses are accessible with pushchairs. No pushchairs inside the castle.
